Notice of Race of the QUEBRAMAR GP42 Cup
Decision No2/07 - 25 October 2007
With reference to the following 203 GP Rule:
"The yacht shall have been designed and built either in accordance with the ABS Guide for Building and Classing Offshore Yachts or, when ultimately published, in accordance with ISO Standard 12215, Part 5 (hull) and Part 7 (rudders). The designer and the builder, respectively, shall confirm by signed written declarations that the design and build comply. The Owner shall be responsible for filing the declarations with the Rating Authority".
In consideration of the present status of the ISO regulation that cannot be
considered, as the GP rule requests, "ultimately published", and in response to a
request coming from a Designer, the ORC has decided the following:
Until the ISO Standard 12215 will be published and anyway not before January 1st
2011, the only construction reference for the GP42 is ABS.
This decision is partially modifying the present rule but is not affecting in any manner the present fleet as well as the boats under construction.

Decision No1/07 - 29 August 2007
Dear Association members,
During the GP42 Association meeting on August 1st 2007, it has been decided to form a working team to decide about the BC Yacht Design (BCYD from hereinafter) boats launched so far.
As known, in fact, these boats have been found to have a convex sheer-line in profile which is contrary to part of the GP42 Rule 207.
The team has been formed by independent people, such as members of two design offices and one technical expert, coordinated by Zoran Grubisa and myself.
Bruno Finzi, acting as ORC Chairman, has ratified the decision.
BCYD has sent a technical report, arrived on August the 16th illustrating their technical analysis of the boats performances variations due to this difference. The team has investigated all aspects under any possible logical side.
The design offices, on the base of the document received, have also made different exchange of mailing, which have been evaluated and considered accurately.
After the examination of all documents and data, after analysis of all possible circumstances, economical impacts and performance evaluations, this is the
DECISION
1) Rule 207 will not be changed. Limits in the Measurement Table will not be changed.
2) No request to change the shape of the boats will be imposed: any boat owner is free to leave the hull and deck of his yacht as it is now. An appendix will be added to the GP42 Rule to include the 2006 and 2007 BCYD boats into the rule. Zoran Grubisa to issue this appendix.
3) The BCYD boats are granfathered for 2007 and will continue to be GP42 at the condition that their IG, I and BAS values will be reduced by 20mm to drop the full sail plan in order to get closer to a theoretical concave sheerline These modifications shall be done after the last event of the GP42 2007 season and before the issue of the next certificate valid for the 2008 season. Zoran Grubisa and Rafa Bonilla will be responsible for the checks and controls after the adjustment will be performed./
4) The design office Botin Carkeek Yacht Design is fined for issuing a design outside part of the GP42 rule 207 (boats with convex sheerline) for the amount of €. 13.500 (euro thirteenthousand- five-hundred). This amount shall be paid immediately to the GP42 Class Account. The interested boats are: AA HPB, Canarias-Puerto Calero, Fermax, Movistar, Quebramar-Chrylser, Quum Marketing and Zurich.
For the boats named now “Valencia Terra y Mar” and “Al Capone” the same decision is in force and they will not receive a 2008 GP42 rating certificate unless their owners will not accomplish with the mentioned requirements and obligations as listed above.
5) The decision has been taken having extremely clear in mind any implications the modification can create, under any aspect and focusing only the benefit for the class future.
6) If other similar problems will arise in the future, they will be treated with much heavier penalties.
CONCLUSIONS
We have all done an extremely difficult job and we hope that this situation will make everybody happy and satisfied. Of course this is the best we have been able to do, being already the season so forward and facing such a heavy disrespect of the rule.
Of course, all this work has been performed having in mind that the mistake has been done in good faith by the designers.
I would like to personally thank the three owners that have accepted this situation defending, in this way, the present and future interest of the class.
We are confident that all of you will understand and that this decision will cause, inside the class, as less disappointment as possible and no resonance at all outside our group.
