Filippo Faruffini talks about the GP42 class and the 2007 Croatian Grand Prix

The president of GP42 Class, Filippo Faruffini came to Cres yesterday, but not only for sailing. In fact, there was a meeting of the Class committee last night whose main subject was to make plans for the next year. Besides Faruffini who is also the owner of boat Roma, the manager of the GP42 Class and owner of one of the Spanish GP42, Paolo Massarini is also here in Cres.

– We still don't know if there is going to be a GP42 regatta in Cres next year. We need to calculate how many regattas we are going to have. This is my first time in Cres and I can say it is beautiful here. I would like to buy a house here, said president Faruffini. There are now 14 boats in the new class that will sail at Copa del Rey, from all over Europe, from the north, Spain, Italy and Croatia. The class is on the ascending trail since the time it appeared. The boats are very fast, act nicely in all conditions and it is a real joy sailing on them.

– We hope for success of the class, and by judging today's development of the situation it has a chance. To have 13 boats in the first year is quite unexpected. It's a lot of boats for the first year of any class, said Faruffini. This year's GP42 season started late because the boats were not ready.

– There will be even more boats next year, and with that more regattas, announced the president of the class.

Faruffini is going to sail in one race today with his boat Roma, very successful in this first official regatta «Croatian Grand Prix».

– We are good because we had time to learn about the boat and train with it since last year. The other boats were delivered a few weeks ago. Sea Wonder was delivered only a few days ago, and the crew had no time to get to know the possibilities of their boat. The skipper and part of the crew on Roma is the same from the beginning, some joined later, but they all know each other well. Some of them have sailed together on maxi boats. The crew is great and I believe they will achieve good results on the following regattas as well, concluded Filippo Faruffini.
