Canarias Puerto Calero christened in Valencia's yacht club

Under Valencia's sunny skies and a few hours before the start of the Trofeo de la Reina, Canarias Puerto Calero was formally christend this afternoon. She will certainly need all the good luck from her godmother, Princess Alexia of Greece, in order to compete in the exciting yet fierce races of the next 3 days.

The boat was designed by Botín & Carkeek and was built at the Longitud Cero boatyard, 50 kilometers north of Valencia.

This year, the GP42 project is sponsored by the Canary Island Tourist Authority, that found in the sailing team the ideal vehicle to promote the image of the Canary Islands during the racing season, not only in the host cities of the various events but also through the media impact indirectly achieved through them.

The Hesperia hotel chain continued its support for another year, while Helly Hansen became the official clothing supplier for the first time, convinced on the return of its investment

The Canarian team look forward to an exciting season and are confident they will be able to repeat their previous successes.
