History
How did the ORC arrive to the Rule?
A general investigation has been carried on.
More than 70 design offices in the world have been involved.
Boat Industry (yards, sailmakers and mastmakers) has been involved too.
Present owners of similarly-sized boats as well as sailors have been constantly informed through meetings and presentations.
Three releases of the rule have been produced since January 2005 based on the first proposal.
Designers have given their contribution to arrive to the final version.
Presentations have been made in many important sailing event around the world.

FUN
1 - Physical Limits as reported in the "Rule Measurement Table"
2 - Rule changes will be decided by the class association members, together with technical assistants and the ORC.
3 - Professional Management of the events.
4 - Cost controls through simple rules (to be agreed with Classes).
5 - High technologies materials especially for bigger sizes (only for the construction).
6 - Reduced crew weight.
No IMS measurement required.
Keels, masts and boats will be weighted.
Freeboards and stability will be checked.
What about the second life?
Principles for design are compatible with IMS or other rating systems
Extremely good platform to be optimized for further performance
